The Businessmagnet
Directory uses a very powerful set of algorithms to
deliver the right results first time. Most
directory services use a database search facility
that can be strict and very limiting for the
user. The Businessmagnet
engine reads and stores every single piece of
information on the directory enabling the delivery
of fresh dynamic results.
Here are
some functions and tips that you may find useful
when conducting a search:
Think Google...
Use the Businessmagnet search facility as you
would any search engine. Searching for 'Compressors'
or 'Compressor Company' will match relevant
results. The search engine will decide which pages
on The Businessmagnet Directory most appropriately
match your search criteria and rank them
accordingly.
Exact Phrase Matching
This feature allows you to search for words in a
specific order as they appear on a page by
surrounding the words in quotes (e.g. a search for
"Shipping Containers" (with double quotes) will find
all pages that mention the exact phrase 'Shipping
Containers' but will not match 'Containers Shipping'
or 'Shipping Company').
Wild Card Searches
A wild card search uses the asterisk *. Placing
the * after part of a word e.g. Rota* will return
all results that begin with Rota, e.g. Rotary,
Rotation...This can be useful if you can perhaps
remember the first part of a product name or company
name but cannot remember the exact spelling.
Search on Address, Phone Number, County, Town...
The reality is, the Businessmagnet Engine
records and indexes every single piece of
information on every page. This means you can search
for businesses within a certain STD code region,
whole phone number, address, post code, town and so
on. This can be very useful if you are interested in
only those business that are local. For example
'Asbestos Removal Stevenage'.
Too
Specific
Searching for a phrase e.g. 'M5 Bolts 22mm
Shaft' will most likely not yield an exact match.
There are probably many businesses on the directory
that offer this product, but to list every possible
size would be quite a task. Instead try searching
for e.g. 'Bolts'. This search will give a neater set
of results as opposed to businesses who may only
supply Metal Shafts or 22mm
