In April 1989 the business was relocated to Ebbw Vale in South Wales
to meet the expansion plans for the company by taking advantage of
the excellent infrastructure and road networks and a readily
available and skilled workforce.
In 1998 Design Environmental became part of the German Schunk group
that also owns the Weiss and Votsch companies and thereby became
part of the largest group of environmental test equipment
manufacturers in Europe. The new ownership enabled DEL to move
forward and bought additional financial security and engineering
knowledge.
Since 1998 the company has gone from strength to strength with
yearly steady growth and in 2007 the company expanded into an
adjoining factory unit to double the available production space to
3,000 square metres. This expansion has accommodated the increased
turnover and enabled the manufacture of larger projects and also
provided additional production space for a long term group contract.
We have a full design and manufacture capability at our South Wales
factory and we operate under an ISO 9001:2008 quality management
system and provide calibration of temperature and humidity traceable
to UKAS.
Design Environmental is a specialist company in the service,
manufacture and design of temperature and humidity test chambers. We
have a comprehensive range of standard chambers to accommodate a
wide variety of testing requirements but our main production is
dedicated to affordable customised designs based on customer’s
specific needs. This can include high performance in the form of
rapid temperature cycling with specific test loads or special work
space dimensions for those not so easily accommodated test items.
Our chambers can be supplied to carry out many testing requirements
including Environmental Stress Screening, Halt Hass, Reliability,
and long term storage and will perform the majority of tests
required by MIL and ISO standards etc.
We have a good reputation for interfacing our test chambers with all
types of vibration generators in both the vertical and horizontal
axis and can offer turnkey solutions if required. Our chambers can
also be interfaced with various types of materials test machines.
