Window Shutters
Window
shutters are window coverings, consisting of horizontal rails, vertical stiles,
or slats constructed within a frame. Window shutters can be of the louver type,
which can be opened or closed, or window shutters can be of the fixed type i.e.:
the rails, stiles or slats are fixed within the frame, and have no operability.
The material used for window shutters slats can be manufactured from various
materials, fabric, and glass, wood, plastic or even metal. Window shutters are
used for various reasons such as, to protect against weather or weathering, to
control sunlight, or just for decorative purposes. Window shutters can be
mounted to overlap the window frame, or sit within it, depending on the
application required. Window shutters can be fixed to the exterior or the
interior of the window frame and in some instances shutters may be constructed
to cover the doorways as well.
