In Great Britain we call them caretakers, in
America they are known as janitors. Janitorial duties involve taking care of a
building such as an office block, apartment building or school. The main
janitorial duty is one of cleaning and can sometimes include maintenance and
even security. This can mean some form of training or licensing to be required,
but this can depend on circumstances such as employers needs and the capacity of
the job. Other janitorial positions may fall under different titles such as
housekeeping staff or housekeepers. Politically correct titles also include, to
name but a few : General Cleaner, Janitorial Engineer, Sanitation Supervisor and
so on.
