Cabinet display lighting covers a vast range of
applications from kitchen cabinets to utility lighting within a workshop
cabinet. One of the main uses of cabinet display lighting is within the retail
sector where a well presented display of prod
ucts
can pay dividends. Perfumes, tools, pottery, ornaments, artwork and jewellery
are just a few of the products that one might use cabinet display lighting to
show case. Cabinet display lighting varies considerably in function and also in
purpose, the type of light also plays an important part in any display.
LED, halogen, fluorescent, metal halide and mercury vapour are the main types
used today. The types of light used in cabinet display lighting serve different
purposes and varied appearance. Whilst a multiple LED unit consumes a low amount
of energy, it lacks the punch of a metal halide or halogen. This has to be
considered and the type of display will ultimately decide the lamp type used.
Whilst integrated units look neat and tidy, there
may be restrictions on the angle of light that can be achieved. Spot lights and
manoeuvrable fixtures can be used to create different effects within the display
cabinet that best suit the product.
