AW Safety Management Ltd News and PR from AW Safety Management Ltd - Published 21 February 2022 Health & Safety Breach Results in Open Compound Fracture For Worker
In 2018 a 1.5 tonne water valve struck a contractor. As a result each company involved has been heavily fined. The valve was suspended from a lorry-mounted crane. It then swung and struck the worker who suffered an open compound fracture as a result.

The HSE investigation found that both companies had not risk assessed the work or acknowledged new hazards that were evident from a change in the scope of work. Consequently, the water management company pleaded guilty to breaching Sections 2(1) and 3 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and received a large fine of £365,000 and the contractors also pleaded guilty to breaching Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc were fined an additional £30,000.
