A team of volunteers from logistics specialist GEFCO UK have built and delivered a bespoke pirate ship play area to students at Exhall Grange School as part of a team-building exercise designed to support the local community.

GEFCO has a strong relationship with the school, having recently collaborated with students lending their choral services as part of a company Christmas fundraising event for local baby hospice, Zoë’s Place.

The project, which took place over two days from Wednesday 8th to Thursday 9th March, saw students present their creative ideas to the GEFCO team who then brought these to life with support from Creative Play UK and Whiting Landscape.

The completed pirate ship was unveiled in an opening ceremony on Thursday 9th March.

Quotes:

“This is amazing! Before we had a boring playground and now it is completely different. There is much more to do with the pirate ship. The area was just brambles and now it feels like having a walk in the park!” (Exhall Grange Student)

“It ran like clockwork and we’re really pleased with the end result. The kids will really enjoy it.” (Christine Marshall, Head Teacher of Exhall Grange School)

“We really wanted to do something more meaningful than a run-of-the-mill teambuilding exercise and this project was the perfect opportunity.

The experience was hugely enriching for the GEFCO team and we’re delighted with the feedback from students and staff at Exhall Grange.” (Helen Grover, UK HR Director, GEFCO UK)
