Zikodrive Motor Controllers’ Technical Director Graham Fick has been crowned ‘Engineer of the Year’ at the 2017 Motion Control Industry Awards, a prestigious event held in Birmingham for the UK motion control industry.
The company, which is based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire design and manufacture a range of motor controllers for a range of applications and Graham has been awarded for his work in designing and developing the ZDBL range of brushless motor controllers which has now been adopted by a number of UK companies as well as being sold into Europe, North America and the Middle East.
The controllers which are lightweight, compact and custom programmed (to enable easy customisation for customerÂ’s needs) were originally launched in early 2016 with the range being expanded in early 2017 to include higher power options.
Speaking at the event Graham said “this is obviously a huge honour for me on a personal level”. Graham also highlighted the recognition as being important to the company which was only formally launched in 2015: “As the main design engineer for the company I have obviously taken a lot of credit for the products we have developed but I would also like to highlight the important work done by my colleagues, particularly MD and co-founder Phil Bates”.
Asked about the future direction of the company Graham said, “we are just focusing on continuing to grow and develop. We’re seeing enquiries and sales growing consistently and this latest recognition can only help”
