Sign Specialists Ltd News and PR from Sign Specialists Ltd - Published 14 March 2017 With sites based across the UK, KIA Motors Ltd is one of the largest car manufactures in the world.

With sites based across the UK, KIA Motors Ltd is one of the largest car manufactures in the world. Back in 2011, we were honoured to be awarded with a contact that saw us assist Kia Motors with their UK signage scheme and, commence roll out of the new style signage in September of that year.

During 2011, we manufactured and installed 50 sites across the UK, increasing to 97 sites by 2012.

Sign Specialists continue to progress the Kia Motors programme in line with the Kia Motors signage development scheme, liaising closely on each project. One project in particular, Beadles Coulsdon, was a high profile, prestige development by KIA Motors (UK) Ltd. It is the largest ‘red cube’ development so far attempted, with strict planning restrictions complicating installation procedures. ‘Fritted Glass’, a high temperature procedure which fuses ceramic inks with architectural glass had to be used, a method of construction that presented us with a couple of tricky issues.

Eventually after several weeks of intense activity an agreed solution was found. The glazing contractors would provide brackets through the silicone glazing joints in locations specified by Sign Specialists Ltd, we would then provide appropriate & corresponding fixing angles on the rear of the signs.

With regards to installation, timing would be crucial, we could not use high level access equipment once the tarmac surrounding had been laid as it would not bear the weight of an all-terrain scissor lift. In fact, our installation window was only 2 weeks following installation of the glazing brackets, after that the tarmac forecourt would be laid and our access equipment would be too heavy. In addition to this, the high level signs and the free standing/low level elements could not be installed in one visit. The low level elements would have to be installed just prior to the site handover.

Both phases were successfully completed on time and according to specification. Our Client KIA Motors (UK) ltd is extremely happy with the result as are the site operators Beadles. Consequently this project can be considered a major success due to a great team effort by Sign Specialists Ltd.
