Bloodhound launch shows metalweb has miles of expertise

On 23rd September 2015 Bloodhound SSC, the world’s most powerful racing car, was revealed publicly for the first time. metalwebÂ’s Manchester-based team worked with Castle Precision Engineering and Bloodhound SSC to develop the bespoke aluminium wheels used on the rocket powered vehicle. Utilising its collective years of specialist insight, metalweb developed the specialist wheels, comprising a solid aluminium disk and a separate dust cover, and also supplied the aluminium plate used to produce the kit.
Mark Benfield, Sales Director at metalweb said: “We were extremely honoured when Bloodhound SSC and Castle Precision Engineering invited us to be part of such an exciting project. To see the vehicle officially launched after months in the planning was just fantastic and we couldn’t be more proud to be involved.”
Bloodhound can cover a mile in 3.6 seconds and there are hopes it can set a new world land speed record by reaching speeds of up to 1,000mph. The record currently stands at 763mph, set by Andy Green in Thrust SSC at Black Rock Desert in Nevada in 1997.
