Electric
fencing is employed as a barrier and uses electric shocks as a boundary crossing
deterrent, and is effective against animals and people from crossing the
boundary. Electric fencing may use voltages which deliver electric shocks,
ranging from uncomfortable to painful and voltages may be used that are lethal.
The most common use for electric fencing today is agricultural fencing, and
various other types of animal control purposes. There are places where it is
used for security sensitive purposes, and even places where lethal voltages are
used. Electric fences creates an electrical circuit when touched, and the shock
will depend on the voltage, the electric current, and the degree of contact
between the subject and the ground.
