Nexer Enterprise Applications and integration specialists IDS Group have been appointed to provide most of this suite of products and applications which are all in development and will come online over the next 18 months.

The existing IT systems and installation products at SE Controls have supported the evolution of the business from a specialist UK contractor to a global manufacturer, however significant incoming changes in guidance and legislation in the UK construction industry have provided the opportunity to undertake a complete reimagining of the SE Controls digital ecosystem.

Michael Baxter, Marketing and Digital Information Systems Manager at SE Controls said:

"SE Controls predicted this shift towards data and technology in the construction industry a long time ago. Our business plans from as far back as 2014 identify the requirement to develop life safety systems that can report their status in real time and our product development has been aligned to that ever since. The expectations of clients and our employees is now for end-to-end data visibility across an array of platforms, regardless of location or device and harnessing cloud technology is fundamental to achieving this objective.

Traditionally, compliance and safety in the UK construction market have meant competency of engineers and quality of product and installation. The changes that the Building Safety Bill will bring about require this being demonstrable and transparent to internal and external stakeholders to provide genuine accountability in the design, construction, and management of a high-rise building. The only way this can be achieved is if the industry digitalises and we see a step change in how building data is managed.

The digital transformation project we are now well underway with will not only deliver on these legislative requirements but go over and above by offering real time feedback on our installed systems, a concept we call Live Compliance. We can offer our clients the confidence that an SE Controls system in their building means they and their residents have the maximum level of protection available from both a life safety and legal perspective.

Our expectation is that by implementing these premium digital products into our business our employees will benefit from a much-improved day to day working experience, but it will also set a new bar for building safety not just in the UK but in the fullness of time, globally."
