The union of two respected brands in pumping
hardware promises to drive standards in borehole
performance.

Fitting out a borehole is a bit like a chicken and egg situation. Which is the real driver of performance, the motor or the pump?

While it’s a close contest, there should be little question that a worn pump is not as big a problem as a failed motor.

This is one reason why, against the usual trend of pump producers buying motor manufacturers, the acquisition of E-Tech pumps by motor giants, Franklin, is an exciting development for the borehole extraction industry.

Franklin Electric Co, Inc, the world’s largest manufacturer of submersible electric motors, bought 75% of Vertical SpA, the Italian stainless steel pump specialist which manufactures the E-Tech range.

The union of these top performers comes at a good time for the UK where we face increasingly demanding applications for borehole extraction, not least the growth in geothermal energy systems for sustainable building.

Proquip was the first to introduce E-Tech pumps to the UK market ten years ago, based on their success in the Middle East, Japan, Africa, United States and mainland Europe. With the core of their offering focused on 6 inch and 8 inch pumps, they embodied a new standard in design technology, reliability and performance for the water supply and dewatering project.

Now, the pooling of resources in production, design and R&D of two technical leaders in pumping technology will undoubtedly push the envelope in borehole performance as modern water and energy engineering asks the ground to deliver more.

Innovation from this powerful new stable has not been slow in coming. E-Tech has already launched a new generation 6 inch borehole pump that significantly advances the state-of-the-art.
Drawing on the heavy duty engineering of E-Tech’s 8 inch pumps, the new 6 inch design offers improvements in flow, head, power, sand tolerance and efficiency that push overall performance and reliability to new levels.
The new line-up offers working pressures up to 66bar, delivery capacities from 6m3/h to 75m3/h, and motor powers - courtesy of Franklin, of course - from 2.2kW to 55kW.
