Benmor Medical has milestone patent granted in the UK and Europe

Benmor Medical (UK) Ltd News and PR from Benmor Medical (UK) Ltd - Published 08 August 2017 We are proud to announce that the Intellectual Property Office has granted patent no. GB2530512 and GB2540064 entitled: ‘Barrier for a Bed’ in the UK and Europe.
This is an important milestone in Benmor MedicalÂ’s history and the continuing improvements to the medical equipment we manufacture.

Due to the need to frequently move patients in and out of bed, and also administer care to a patient, it is highly desirable for safety rails to be movable so that a patient can either exit the bed or so that a healthcare professional can gain access to the patient.

The new patent provides a safety rail which helps prevent an occupant of a bed from rolling out when in the first (up) position and the second (horizontal) position, wherein the safety rail is stowed under the mattress platform.

The innovative stowable safety rails feature on The Deprimo Floor Level Bed which has an ultra low height of just 12cm (4.7”), significantly reducing the risk of injury to vulnerable patients who are prone to falling out of bed, increasing patient safety and reducing the costs of in-hospital injury.
