SIDESTREAM FILTERS - CHW, LTHW, MTHW FILTERS

There are several technologies available for sidestream filtration, however cartridge filtration remains one of the most efficient filtration methods for removal of rust, sediment and contaminants from CHW, LTHW and MTHW circuits.

An analysis of particle size distribution of water in HVAC closed loops would generally indicate majority of particles under 50 micron and many in the range of 10 – 25 micron. These particles also have the most fouling potential and can adhere to pipe surfaces, restrict efficient heat transfer and limit the performance of chemical treatment thereby aiding further corrosion in the system. Our cartridge filtration products provide outstanding performance in this particle size range and acuraPromelt filter cartridges remove more than 99% of particles at the rated pore size. For very dirty systems our BFOS bag filter housings and acuraBag filter bags can protect cartridge filters. These bag housings can be supplied with magnet assemblies which are particularly useful in severely corroded older system with a high concentration of rust particles.

We design our filtration systems to filter complete system volume 2 – 3 times in a twenty four hour period. Sidestream filters work by continuously filtering a small volume of total flow, anywhere between 5 – 15%. Since the rate of contaminant accumulation is less than rate of removal by filtration, this provides a cost effective filtration solution. Another benefit of sidestream filtration is that the filters can be taken offline without any disruption.

BFOS bag filter housings take 7″ diameter x 16″ or 32″ long filter bags. These can be used for prefiltration before the cartridge filters in dirty systems and can be supplied with industrial magnetic assemblies for simultaneous rust removal.
