Sweet! Confectionery craze boosts sales at Wrights Plastics GPX

Wrights Plastics Ltd GPX News and PR from Wrights Plastics Ltd GPX - Published 11 February 2016 Retail display manufacturer Wrights Plastics GPX is experiencing the sweet smell of success as it saw a massive growth in sales of its Pick & Mix stands and sweet dispensers.
Sales by volume were up by an incredible 70% in the final quarter of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014.

The company believes the continued trend in Pick & Mix and ‘retro’ sweets is the reason for the sales growth.

The company manufactures most of their range at their West Bromwich base and sells to independent retailers, cinemas, hotels and to resellers.

Despite concerns about healthy eating and daily levels of sugar intake, the confectionery market is massive at around £5b per annum (source IbisWorld) and continues to grow with recent estimates suggesting it will grow over 8% in the next five years. Retro sweets, unwrapped sweets and traditional Pick and Mix are part of a large part of the market worth around £800m annually

Mike Wright, MD of Wrights Plastics GPX, said this week “This sector of the confectionery market has continued to offer good margins so it is not surprising that lots of retailers are keen to develop this product range. We have seen unprecedented demand in the past twelve months for our range of Pick and Mix stands and components.

“Because we manufacture in the UK, this increase in sales is helping us to secure jobs locally. At almost 100, we have our largest workforce for a long time and we are always looking to add more staff as we grow sales across our product range.
