Darfen employee’s Graham Wilde and Les Smith (pictured) have received a reward of £100 each from top international engineering enterprise, Laing O’Rourke.
Darfen Durafencing are working with Laing OÂ’Rourke on the Metrolink contract in Manchester.
The M-Pact Thales (MPT) Consortium, formed of VolkerRail, Laing O'Rourke and Thales, are tasked by the Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) with delivering the £900m expansion programme for the Manchester Metrolink network.
MPT’s contract is part of a £1.5bn programme to modernise and enhance Metrolink by 2016. Work is well on track across the city, the section between East Droylsden and Ashton-under-Lyne, opened to passengers in December, several weeks ahead of schedule, bringing the network size to cover almost 50 miles, serving 73 stops.
Darfen Durafencing first became involved when they bid for and won their first order for this project back in the Summer of 2012 and have to date completed close to half a million pounds worth of work.
Graham and Les were observed on a regular basis by one of the top management team within the organisation and have been recognised as being fully compliant with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), committed to safe working practices and keeping a tidy workplace.
Jeff Maclean, Regional Manager at Darfen Liverpool said “It is nice to be recognised and receive such positive feedback by our customers for our work in these areas, we are fully committed to Health and Safety and I am very pleased for Graham and Les to have received this reward”.
Darfen would like to thank Laing OÂ’Rourke for their recognition.
