Spooner named in Britain’s ‘1000 Companies to inspire’

Spooner Industries Ltd News and PR from Spooner Industries Ltd - Published 20 April 2015 Spooner Industries has been identified as one of the '1000 Companies to Inspire Britain'.
Announced today, Spooner Industries in Ilkley has been identified as one of the ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’. Manufacturing industrial process machinery such as industrial ovens, dryers, coolers, provers/proofers, air turns, stabilisers, oxidisers and solvent and energy recovery equipment, the company has been a leading innovator in the principles of forced convection technology since 1932.
Collated by the London Stock Exchange this annual report is a celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK. Spooner was one of only 75 companies honoured across the Yorkshire and Humber region. To be selected, Spooner had to demonstrate not only consistent revenue growth over a minimum of 3 years but also significantly outperform peers in the same sector of manufacturing. The manufacturing sector which contributes ÂŁ139bn to the national economic output, boasts average annual revenue growth of 180% (2010-2014), carries the largest number of companies named in the report and continues to create significant employment opportunities across the UK.
This accolade for Spooner follows a visit of Prime Minster, David Cameron and Chancellor, George Osborne to the manufacturing and engineering company last month. Their visit included meeting the Directors and a comprehensive tour of the offices and factory floor in the wake of a buoyant order book and continued year-on-year growth. Commenting on his visit, Mr Cameron said:
“Spooner is a great example of the kind of ‘advanced manufacturing’ businesses this Government is trying to get behind.”
Despite an increasingly competitive global environment, strong domestic demand is boosting production levels across a wide range of manufacturing capabilities. The report goes on to examine in detail the opportunities and challenges facing SMEs and looks at the sectors and trends that will shape the future of the UK economy.
Xavier Rolet, Chief Executive, London Stock Exchange Group said:
“This report is a significant part of London Stock Exchange’s broader campaign to support UK high growth companies in their journeys from Start-up to Stardom and to create an entrepreneurship revolution. I’m delighted that a strong alliance between UK Government, financial market participants, investors, entrepreneurs and companies has been created to support these inspiring businesses.”
