New Macnaught MX Series Approved for Use in Hazardous Areas

Using proven technology and a revolutionary modular design, MacnaughtÂ’s MX intrinsically safe industrial meters are the most advanced positive displacement oval gear flow meters on the market. Rated Ex ia IIC (Class 1 Zone 0), approved ATEX, CSA, FM and constructed from robust stainless steel (316) the MX Ex series offers an ideal solution for applications requiring precise flow measurement in hazardous areas.

Oval gear flow meters measure the volumetric flow rate of a moving fluid, the two rotating oval gears divide the material into fixed, metered volumes. This operating principle has been proven to provide accurate flow measurements that are not affected by variations in temperature, viscosity, or pressure. The new MX Ex flow meters are ideal for the precise transfer or dispensing of thin to viscous fluids, corrosive chemicals and non-conductive liquids in environments where there is the potential of exposure to flammable gases, or vapours. These intrinsically safe flow meters do not require flow conditioning or straight pipe runs so they can be used in installations where space is limited without effecting performance.

The MX Ex series of intrinsically safe flow meters are available in ¼” (6mm) up to 2” (50mm), with flow ranges from 0.13 GPH to 132 GPM and an accuracy of ±0.5%. They are equipped with MacnaughtÂ’s versatile M-Lock mounting system, allowing the pulsers and displays to be installed and exchanged in less than 15 seconds. Macnaught offer two models of pulser approved for use in hazardous areas, the MXD-BS; an intrinsically safe (Ex ia) NPN open collector, ATEX, IECEx, CSA and FM approved with an IP67 rated housing for use with temperatures up to 85˚C and the MXD-CS; a flame-proof (Ex d) NPN open collector, also ATEX, IECEx, CSA and FM approved with an IP67 rated housing for use with temperatures up to 85˚C.
