Professional print industry hailed a success

Zerographic Systems Ltd News and PR from Zerographic Systems Ltd - Published 19 January 2015 Zerographic Systems Ltd has hailed as a “success” its event for members of the professional print industry, promising to host similar proceedings on an annual basis.
Members of the industry gathered at the companyÂ’s Wakefield facilities on November 5th. Professional Print 2014: Turning Science Into Art centred on the challenges facing digital printing companies and the role technology plays in tackling them.

On hand were guests from leading industry organisations including the British Printing Industry Federation, Xerox, XMPie, EFI and Morgana.

Zerographic’s head of marketing, Toni Gibiino, said the event went off exactly as planned. “We saw Professional Print 2014 as an opportunity to create an arena in which print professionals could discuss the real issues they encounter on a daily basis.”

The feedback from speakers and delegates, he added, indicated that the event served its purpose.

“Zerographic really wanted to demonstrate that we’re a partner for success, rather than just a supplier of production printing equipment and solutions. I believe we achieved this.”

“Based on the success we are planning to repeat this event annually.”

Customer needs are changing
British Printing Industry Federation director, Marcus Clifford, told delegates that change was afoot in the sector. Customers, he said, were demanding shorter run lengths, higher volumes, faster turnaround, more personalisation, better quality, colour consistency and lower costs.

“There has never been a better time for printers to engage with customers as a result of the changes in technology and marketers,” advised Mr Clifford.

“Innovation,” he added, “is the key to success and the way to readdress the balance between smaller and larger businesses.”

The technological solution
The role of technology in meeting customer demands and the automation of internal processes were unanimously placed as solutions to the challenges industry faces.

Mr Gibiino explained: “We were able to give professional printers an opportunity to see the latest Xerox technologies such as the Xerox Versant 2100 and the Colorpress J75, whilst also providing insights into the changes affecting the market.”

“XMpie’s Phil Gaskin, for instance, demonstrated the value-added benefits that digital print businesses can harness from powering the right hardware with the right software.”

Customers, he added, were now demanding greater personalisation of their collaterals. “The dynamic ability of personalisation is a pressing issue for consumers. After all, the personal touch boosts response rates.

“Solutions such as XMpie enable professional printers to get the job done. Expanding your service offering through technology is a sure fire way of expanding your bottom line.”
