RD Castings
RD Castings is your one stop
shop for CNC precision machining, milling, turning and prototyping. We have one
of the most advanced manufacturing facilities you will find in the UK. We have a
wide range of cnc milling machines, cnc turning machines and
die casting
machines, all of which are the most technologically advanced machines possible.
For the past 40 years RD Castings have been dedicated to providing the most
superior quality machined components in the UK.
CNC Precision Machining |
RD Castings have a purpose built 12,000 square foot factory where we carry our
all of our CNC precision machining. Our emphasis is firmly on efficiency, the
facility has been purposely designed to reduce wasted time by minimizing product
movement through this area.
Our CNC precision machining facilities allow us to supply machined components in
any material, including stainless steel and brass just to name a few, and in any
quantity including one off milled/turned parts.
If you require very high volume turning and milling work, our dedicated
sub-contractor partnership we have in China allows us to produce extremely high
volumes are a fraction of what it would cost to do in the UK.
CNC Milling
Our CNC machining facility is home to 11 Brother milling machines, all of which
are twin pallet and most are fitted with high speed 4th axis Nikken rotary
INDEXERS, and one a complete fully vision robotic cell. Our milling machines are perfectly designed for the machining of Zinc and
Aluminium castings with feed rates of 50-75 m/min. With tool change times at
less than 1 second, RD Castings are extremely competitive when it comes to CNC
Milling.
Robot Cell
RDC have designed & commissioned our first fully automatic robotic machine
tending cell using the very latest technology available. This allows us to place
pallets into the cell to be machined without any human intervention. The robot
pick parts from the pallet and places these into the CNC machine for processing.
The CNC machine is a twin pallet machine, so whilst its machining casting in the
back ground, its loading fresh component for machining on the front pallet,
removing all load & unload times. When the operation is complete the table
indexes and then starts to machine the other pallet of castings, whilst this is
happening the robot unloads the other pallet and blows down all of the fixturing,
allowing fresh parts to be loaded and machined. After removing from the CNC the
robot cleans the machined parts through air blow off station to remove swarf
from all tapped holes and surfaces. Then the robot places the parts in a two
stage ultrasonic wash station to clean the casting before returning it to the
blow off station again to dry. After this parts are correctly stacked on the
finished parts pallet.
CNC Turning
We supply many of our existing customers with finished components and castings
turned from billet materials including stainless steel and brass to name a few.
To keep RD Castings ahead of the competition, we have recently introduced the
latest Mazak Quick Turn Nexus250 to our range of machinery. The Quick Turn
series brings together exceptional performance, productivity and advanced
technology. In virtually every direction the speed and power of the machine has
been increased.
Prototyping
Our prototyping services allow clients to prove function and fit before entering
full scale production. If required we also offer small to large production runs.
RD Castings guarantee the quality and inspect the parts prior to shipment. All
you need to do is tell us what you require and we will manage the entire process
for you.
Second Operation |
As using CNC controlled equipment is not always suitable for every machining
process, we undertake many second operation machining processes at RD Castings.
Our second operation processes include tapping, linishing, manual drilling,
hydraulic presswork, shot blasting and hand deburr work to name a few. Although
these processes can increase the labour of certain jobs, they can still be a
cheaper alternative to a fully automated process.
RD Castings have invested heavily in our second operation processes using the
latest technology to make them as efficient as possible. This allows our
customers to receive the most cost effective solutions for both high and low
volume work.
