Chrome platers use a technique which is referred
to as electroplating. By using this techinque, chrome platers will ap
ply
a thin layer of chromium onto the desired metal object. This thin layer of
chromium can provide corrosion resistance, look decorative, increase the surface
hardness of the metal object and provide easy cleaning procedures. There are
several stages that chrome platers need to apply before the metal object can be
chrome plated, and a typical process for aluminium can be 1) chrome stripping 2)
grinding 3) cyanide bath 4) touching up 5) acid copper bath 6) chrome plating.
Chrome platers are employed in many different industries, and were an important
part of the automobile industry, chrome plating parts of the car such as window
trims, wheel trims, hub caps and the bumpers. The chemicals chrome platers use
are very toxic, and the disposal of chemicals is regulated in most countries.
