Safety First Manufacturing (also known as Tusker), are a UK based manufacturer of welding safety equipment.

What makes us different, is that we manufacture many of the products we sell. This gives us the unique ability to be able to customise safety products to meet your requirements, and supply standard products suitable to our local conditions and laws.

Protective leather welding clothing is available in 2 versions: premium or economy. The thicker premium grade leather can be supplied in the following colours: Tusker Red, Tusker Blue and Tusker Gold. The economy grade is chrome in colour. Aprons, arm guards, fleximasks, glove protectors, jackets, sleeves, caps, spats and more are available and all designed to protect the wearer from the rigours of welding. Other types of PPE and protective clothing are also available from our website.

Our Fire Retardant Protective Clothing (Proban range) shields the user from light sparks and can be used for grinding and other similar applications. One of the most popular products is our flame retardant cap.

Tusker Proban Clothing conforms to EN533, EN531 and EN470 is 100% pre-shrunk cotton with a durable flame retardant finish.

Welders protective clothing includes the popular welders legionnaires caps and the Proban-backed welders protective jackets.

Mobile Welding Frames are easy to move and construct on site. There are several types of mobile welding frames for different applications such as manhole tent covers, the impressive welding umbrella and the well-known Elephant Shelters.

Welding screens and curtains are available ex-stock and made from a range of different materials to suit the application. They can be used for welding, cutting, or grinding, as a smoke curtain, laser curtain, acoustic screen or welding blanket. Various levels of visibility are available.

Strip curtains are made for industrial safety applications. They are available in a variety of different colours and thicknesses to suit the application and requirements. If good visibility is needed, such as in warehouses or for forklifts to drive through, clear curtains can be used. These clear curtains can also be used in paint spray booths. Also available in green, bronze, amber and clear and in a range of levels of visibilities to suit other applications.

Industrial safety tarpaulins from Tusker are made for uses including spray booth curtains, marine covers for boats and similar applications. They also protect from the dust so common in industrial applications. Tarpaulins can be customised to meet your requirements as they are typically produced in our Plymouth factory.

Brazing Pads, Cable Covers and Pipe Wraps are some of the large range of Industrial Safety Products supplied by Tusker. A popular product is our industrial heat pad or solder pad (2 products) which can be used anywhere up to 1000°C. Also available is a leather fire retardant pipe wrap and a heat reflective wrap. The industrial safety product range can all be customised to your requirements or supplied as a standard product.

PU28 Fire Barrier is an easier to handle and install, alternative to rigid fire board. Being flexible and lightweight, it is easy to transport and quick to install. Conforming to BS476 parts 6 and 7, PU28 Fire Barriers have a fire rating of 75 minutes and are 100% British made. Typical applications for this type of fire barrier include timber framed properties, thatching and lofts as well as being used for duct fire barriers and covers for flammable waste.

For uses in the heating, ventilating and air conditioning industries where a class O fire rating (non-flammable) is required. Acoustic Fire Barriers are also used as in commercial balanced acoustics such as in theatres and concert halls. Fire Stop Acoustic Foam barriers are made from grey melamine foam or black polyurethane.

Tusker neoprene smoke barriers and smoke curtains comply with fire class F60 and are manufactured from the the same material as the NEO range of welding blankets. They are tested in accordance with NT Fire 005 (ISO 834) and can be used to contain fumes, smoke or gasses. Typical applications may be as smoke reservoir boundaries or smoke channelling to an area of extraction.
