2007 sees 40 years of design & manufacture of our ‘Trade Rack’

A friendly family firm of roof rack manufacturers, SDV Roof Racks (Clitheroe) Limited, also known as SDV Trade Racks and Clitheroe Roof Racks, designs and manufactures heavy duty galvanised commercial roof racks. These racks were the first of the type combining rope hooks and a ladder roller as standard.

Kevin Bowen founded the business in 1967 and registered the name SDV. He marketed a roof rack that is strong, dependable and value for money.

In June 2005 we relocated to purpose built premises of 10,000 sq ft; still in Clitheroe, but on the outskirts. The Link 59 Business Park is easily reached off the A59 without the need to enter town. We now stock a large number of racks and have waiting facilities and in-door fitting bays in a modern environment.

Manufacturing continues today in the family business and SDV remain the only roof rack manufacturers in Clitheroe.

The team at SDV are continually developing the product alongside vehicle changes and customer requirements. The commercial van designers have introduced many changes over the years; perhaps the most influential change we have seen is the gradual decline of the rainwater channels that were standard on most vans a number of years ago. This decline has seen the introduction of new fixing systems that have been designed by SDV to utilise the vehicle manufacturer’s designs.

We don’t only make roof racks for the larger vans, through our product development we can now offer not only van roof racks but also side racks for many of the smaller vans too! Make your small van a great asset! The team liaise with vehicle dealerships in arranging measuring and design of racks to fit the latest models.

SDV is confident that although in some cases costs have been affected by the introduction of new fixing systems, they are still achieving a safe, secure and reliable roof rack system and maintaining value for money. Your van roof rack will have little change from those produced in the early years, the only difference being the manner in which it is mounted to the roof.

The development of the side rack/glass rack/side frail has taken place over recent years and has many repeat customers. The strength, uncluttered line, quality rubber buffers and fender strips, make for a flexible and reliable method of carrying doors, windows, large sheets etc.
