A wide range of highly efficient
air impingement and flotation dryers for the paper, converting and non-woven
industries include the ModuleDryerTM and the High Performance Compact (HPC)
Dryer. Spooner flotation dryers combine high evaporation rates with excellent
web handling, allowing simultaneous turning and drying or cooling of the web.
The key element is the unique Spooner nozzle system employed in the turning
sections. This nozzle system allows the web to be turned through a given angle
in a stable manner without any loss of heat transfer. Advantages of this concept
are overall shorter machines, superior web stability, reduced downtime and
energy savings.
Through a partnership with Solaronic Bekaert, a unique near infrared and air
impingement oven system has been developed for the metals industry. The Near Air
Combi Oven brings a wealth of benefits for high speed paint curing including
faster cure times, reduced running costs and lower energy consumption. The
combination of Solaronics near infrared for solvent removal and
Spooner’s air impingement for the cure stages
ensures optimum product quality. There are many benefits from combining these
technologies in particular the ability to cure conventional full thickness paint
in under eight seconds and the fact that the Near Air Combi Oven consumes at
least 20% less energy than that of an all electric system.

Spooner’s range of equipment for the food
and bakery sector includes ovens, provers, tunnel coolers, rack coolers, process
controls, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Spooner ovens are ideal for
all baking applications including biscuits, bread, breakfast bars, cereals,
confectionary, pies, savoury/meat, fast food, pastries, cakes, gateaux,
ingredients, pet food and hot plate food.
A range of prover designs are offered to suit the product and plant of the
customer; tunnel provers, box type provers, L type provers and even combination
box and L type can be designed. All provers incorporate the Spooner airflow
system to ensure even temperature, humidity and airflow throughout.
More recently Spooner became the European
licensee for Anguil Environmental Systems. Based the in USA, Anguil has over 30
years experience in VOC abatement technology. From thermal to catalytic
oxidisers which destroy hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) as well as volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) and odour emissions that are discharged from industrial
processes. The partnership allows Spooner to design and manufacture oxidiser
equipment in-house and offer industrial facilities a single source solution for
their dryer, oven and air pollution control needs. Other new technologies
offered by Spooner include; adsorption systems, chlorinated emission control
systems, heat exchangers and energy recovery systems.
Spooner’s Likely HQ also boasts a Pilot Facility with in-house testing
equipment available for a wide variety of processes. The comprehensive range of
pilot equipment is available to all customers and most applications. Spooner’s
testing equipment includes a three section travelling food oven, a high speed
coating line equipped with air flotation dryer, a coating line equipped with
rollers and conveyor, hand sample pilot machines and through flow pilot
