What Testing Does My Forklift Tipping Skip Require?

The Forklift Skip Market News and PR from The Forklift Skip Market - Published 23 February 2021 When it comes to forklift tipping skips, your skip should be 'CE' marked and supplied with a Certificate of Conformity when purchased. This will show that your tipping skip conforms to the Machinery Directive (Directive 2006/42/EC of the European Parliament) and abides with various legislative requirements
Having the necessary certification (Certificate of Conformity) and 'CE' marking in place doesn't mean that your tipping skip is always fit for purpose down the line

Just like a car needs an MOT every 12 months to show its roadworthiness, your forklift tipping skip (and any forklift attachment for that matter) also needs a similar inspection. This is called a Thorough Examination and this should be carried out 12 months after the initial purpose of your tipping skip and every 12 months from then on

Thorough Examination testing is a legal requirement (LOLER 98 & PUWER 98), and not conforming to this legislation can leave you exposed to prosecution by the HSE should an accident occur.

The takeaways from this article when it comes to forklift tipping skip testing and requirements are ;
