Resin bound surfacing for new rides at Dreamland, Margate

Clearstone Paving Ltd News and PR from Clearstone Paving Ltd - Published 17 June 2019 Clearstone installs resilient, easy to clean permeable resin bound surfacing for new rides Pendulum, Dreamland Drop and Dreamcatcher
Context
With Phase I of the regeneration of Dreamland Amusement Park in Margate complete, resilient paving was needed for the installation of new rides in time for summer thrill seekers.

It was important for the Hemingway Design team that this iconic park to have a cohesive look. The paving around the latest rides had to tie in with the gravel paths plus match the existing resin bound.

Product used
Clearstone installed 2,186m2 of resin bound in Derbyshire aggregate Devon Yellow, an exact match for the existing resin bound.

Since Dreamland wanted the new rides open for summer visitors, time was tight. As clients Walker Construction laid asphalt bases for exhilarating rides such as Pendulum and Sky Tower, Clearstone installed resin bound and set in decorative rails.

Outcome
In Clearstone, client Bernie Keens found a resin bound specialist that met the colour match challenge. “Dreamland wanted continuity across the site and Clearstone have done that.“

Dreamland’s head of Technical Services, Andrew Gall, is delighted with resin bound. “It’s resilient, easy to clean and maintain and provides a great non-slip surface compared to slippery loose gravel. The approaches and queuing areas are now clean and puddle free.”
“It’s resilient, easy to clean with a quick power wash and requires far less maintenance than loose gravel"
