PDT Honored for Design Inspired by Porsche and Mercedes

Product Development Technologies (UK) Ltd News and PR from Product Development Technologies (UK) Ltd - Published 14 November 2017 Product Design and Development Firm, PDT, Honored for Design Inspired by Porsche and Mercedes
Product Development Technologies (PDT), a global, full-service product development firm, is proud to announce that its work has once again been recognized by Appliance Design's Excellence in Design Awards and Industrial Designers Society of America's International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).

The Leitz iLAM Home Office Laminator has been awarded a Gold Excellence in Design Award in this year’s competition. Selected by an independent panel of design experts on the basis of creativity, ease of use, and visual appeal, the iLAM Laminator stood out for its highly versatile, compact and beautifully designed form, as well as its high-performance features.

The iLAM Laminator has also been named as an Industrial Design Society of America's International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) Finalist, a prestigious award judged by renowned design experts from around the world.

Leitz’s headquarters, located in Stuttgart, Germany, is also the headquarters of Mercedes and Porsche. In a quest to develop a fresh, unique look for a new home-office laminator that also complimented the original brand design language, while paying homage to the high-end automotive design their location is known for, Leitz turned to PDT. Tours through local automotive museums were given to PDT’s design team to inspire the new design.

The resulting Leitz’s iLAM Home Office Laminator is a sleek, modern, and highly versatile solution for business or personal use within the home setting. Designed with the user and setting in mind, the laminator is compact, minimizing the footprint of typical office-use machines without sacrificing the functionality of the internal engine. It warms up in only three minutes, and laminates pouches up to 125 microns thick.

Now in its 30th year, the Excellence in Design Awards seek to recognize outstanding achievements in design, innovation and functionality annually. The panel of judges hail from respected industry associations and award entries based on ten industry categories: innovation, simplicity, strong functionality for the user, and other considerations including optimized capabilities, environmental footprint, and energy- and cost-savings.
