EN 61000-4-3 Radio Frequency, (RF) Electromagnetic Field Immunity

EMC Testing UK News and PR from EMC Testing UK - Published 21 December 2016 EN 61000-4-3 Electromagnetic Field Immunity is the standard is part of a set of basic EMC standards that outline test procedures that must be successfully accomplished before products can be sold.
Radiated RF Immunity EN 61000-4-3 testing requires that the EUT (equipment under test) operates satisfactorily when subjected to a strong radiated electromagnetic field i.e. by any emitting source. Products must be designed and tested to insure that they are immune to both intentional transmitters, such as mobile phones etc, and unintentional RF emitting devices like electric motors and welders.
The test requires a frequency scan at a certain fixed level of field strength (specified by the standard). The scan comprises of a series of steps in frequency. During the test the EUT should be monitored at all times to detect faulty operation during being subjected to RF. EN 61000-4-3 (Radio Frequency, (RF) Electromagnetic Field Immunity ) is the standard required in order to perform this RF Immunity test.

EN 61000-4-3 Standard

EN 61000-4-3 is the immunity requirements of electrical and electronic equipment to radiated electromagnetic energy. It establishes test levels and the required test procedures. The object of this standard is to establish a common reference for evaluating the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment when subjected to radiated, radio-frequency electromagnetic fields. The test method documented in this part of EN 61000 and describes a consistent method to assess the immunity of an equipment or system against a defined phenomenon. This part deals with immunity tests related to the protection against RF electromagnetic fields from any source. Particular considerations are devoted to the protection against radio-frequency emissions from radio telephones and other RF devices. It has the status of a EMC publication.
