Merseyside Firm Hailed as Export Champion for the North West

ATG Access Ltd News and PR from ATG Access Ltd - Published 06 December 2012 A Merseyside company which designs and manufactures security bollards is being hailed as one of the North West's leading Export Champions by the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
ATG Access, based in Haydock, manufacture everything from residential bollards to high-tech, anti-terrorist systems and is currently exporting to 42 countries worldwide, with 60% of sales turnover accounted for by exports.

Most recently the company has secured a $6 million contract to supply the security throughout the new International Airport in Doha, where ATG Access has already provided an automated bollard system for George Town University. ATG Access's contract with Doha Airport will be delivered over 4 years and is the company's biggest project to date.

ATG Access will also be attending a UKTI Market Visit to Brazil this month, where the company is hoping to secure contracts in Brazil for the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janiero, having successfully provided the security bollards for London 2012 this summer.

UKTI's Regional Director for the North West, Clive Drinkwater, visited ATG Access last week, during Export Week, part of a campaign led by Trade & Investment Minister Lord Green to increase the number of British exporters by a quarter, adding a potential £36 billion to the UK Economy.

In the North West, a key initiative is the 'Export Champions' programme, where successful exporters are recruited to help and advise new companies on their export journey, offering peer to peer advice and support in addition to the wide range of individually tailored professional services available from the UKTI North West team.

Speaking at ATG Access' premises, Clive Drinkwater said, "A year ago I challenged the North West business community to work with us to find 1000 new exporters this year and we are well on our way. However, we are keen to harness the expertise and enthusiasm of the region's many companies who are already successful exporters, and so I am delighted to be able to announce that ATG Access will be one of our new 'Export Champions' who will become a beacon to inspire non-exporters to get started and to new exporters to do more."

ATG Access was set up in 1989, and soon became a leader in its field, supplying automated traffic management bollards for all major UK cities and security bollards for everyone from Arsenal FC to the Houses of Parliament.

Having dominated the UK market, the company began to seriously develop its export strategy and worked with UKTI in the North West to develop its overseas potential, initially signing up for their Passport to Export programme to help formulate a realistic export plan, and going on to attend trade shows and market visits and commission Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) reports to research specific opportunities in different markets.

Working with International Trade Adviser Charles Jacobson, ATG Access has rapidly expanded its overseas reach, with major projects including Adelaide Airport, the Dubai Finance Centre, the Malaysian Prime Minister's office, the British Embassy Buildings in the Hague and Athens, the W Hotel in Qatar and the King's Palace in Abu Dhabi
"ATG Access will be one of our new 'Export Champions' who will become a beacon to inspire non-exporters to get started."
