Harlequin Floors (British Harlequin plc) News and PR from Harlequin Floors (British Harlequin plc) - Published 03 March 2015 Former banking premises in Hinkley, Leicestershire have been turned into modern dance studio facilities for The School of Ballet Theatre UK.
Former banking premises in Hinkley, Leicestershire have been turned into modern dance studio facilities for The School of Ballet Theatre UK. Artistic Director, Christopher Moore outlined the backstory. “I visualised a modern school that, keeping the discipline of classical ballet, would train and produce dancers versatile in other forms of dance and theatre.” Christopher continued, “Planning and organising this project started back at the very foundation of the Company in 2006. We began the renovation of the 1960’s building in early June, with the aim to transform the derelict and deserted bank into three open and modern studios that would rival any London studio.” Subsequently on the 8th September 2014, The School of Ballet Theatre UK opened its doors to welcome its very first group of fresh-faced students looking for a long and fruitful career in ballet. Talking about the studios, Christopher said, “Our largest studio measures 378m², truly a beautiful feature of the school! Each studio is kitted out with a Harlequin Activity sprung floor with Harlequin Cascade performance surface. We chose Harlequin as in our opinion, they are the elite. We were searching for the ‘wow’ factor in not only looks but of course quality and Harlequin was the answer to our prayers. There was no question or doubt that our studios would not be complete without the highest quality dance floors!” It is clear that no expense was spared in ensuring top quality for the students. Huge open windows provide a vista, overlooking the church to the old Victorian rooftops of the historical town of Hinckley beyond. There is also an observational room with glass panels offering views of two of the school studios. For the students, an exclusive feature of studying at The School of Ballet Theatre UK is training within the same environment as the internationally renowned danced company, Ballet Theatre UK. Through regular interaction with the company and a wealth of performances, opportunities in the UK and abroad, students will benefit with a true insight to life in a professional dance company and work with the experienced ballet staff. Along with their tutors and dance staff, students will receive the highest quality of coaching from the company’s experienced and talented team. All have had long and varied careers in dance establishments such as The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures. Christopher Moore summed up, “Here at The School of Ballet Theatre UK we see the importance of creating and nurturing the next generation of dancers and are proud of our unique and tailored approached. Our philosophy strives to create and maintain an encouraging environment for all our students. We have high expectations for all at the school to learn, to grow and to achieve so they may reach their full potential with a long and successful career.”
