The company was established in 1966 as Fine Gears Ltd., focused on the supply of machined gears for a wide ranging group of industries from the aeronautics and energy to medical fields. Douglas Colliver Snr. played a major role in the design and manufacture of gears, including those for the instrument panels in the prototype Concorde and for medical companies involved in the production of artificial limbs.
