Closely linked to dynamic compaction Rapid Dynamic Compaction not only increases the bearing capacity of a given soil it is potentially twice as fast and at least 40% cheaper when compared to the more traditional methods.

This type of treatment is effective in the top layers of the soil up to 6m in depth although in certain conditions soil improvement has been documented in depths of up to 9m!

The actual RIC unit can be mounted on a standard excavator so it’s ready to start its operations as soon as it arrives on site.

Depending on the model drop weights ranging from 9 to 16 tonnes are typically used and dropped onto a special foot assembly at speeds of between 40-60 times a minute. As the foot stays in permanent contact with the ground it eliminates the risk of flying debris.

The actual unit is accurately controlled from the excavator with the degree of the compactions effectiveness electronically controlled. Any soil deflection is recorded using the on board computer that collects data which can be presented to site manager on completion.
