An Ultrasonic bath or cleaner is a cleaning device that uses ultrasound (usually from 20-400kHz) and a cleaning solvent to clean delicate and complex shaped items and components. The ultrasound can be used with either special solvents to enhance its cleaning capability or just tap water. They have various applications such as for cleaning jewellery, surgical instruments, lenses, optical equipment and can be found in many industrial environments particularly the engineering sector. It uses high frequency sound waves to agitate in the solution, capitation bubbles induced by agitation act on the contaminants which are found in small structures like fins, recesses and deep holes. They can be used on many types of material such as metal, rubber, plastic, glass and ceramics. The main aim is to totally remove all foreign matter from the item, and in some cases the part does not have to be disassembled.
