Balconi
es.
Balcony is derived from the italian word balcone meaning scaffold. A balcony is
best described as a kind of platform which projects from the outside of a
building or structure, and is supported by console brackets or columns and
enclosed with a balustrade. A traditional Maltese balcony is a wooden closed
structure projecting from a wall. Another type of balcony is the Juliet balcony,
which does not project from the outside of the wall, but is part of the floor on
which it is constructed, with only the balustrade at the front. A regular
balcony has doors that open onto a small standing space or patio with railings;
where as a French balcony will have doors that open only onto a railing and are
actually a false balcony.
