In a labour intensive industry, the importance of having the right
people is crucial at level of the Strand business and no more so
than with our management teams. A contract manager is assigned to
each customer to provide a single point of contact. Their time is
dedicated to ensuring that everything runs smoothly and their
presence means that any issues, no matter how small, can be resolved

At Strand, our impact upon every aspect of our service is something
we take very seriously and we continue to make great strides towards
meeting our targets as well as helping our customers to achieve
their sustainability goals.
We constantly scrutinise every aspect of our service, from our
supply chain to our use of natural resources, to ensure that we meet
the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 a standard that we recognise
benefits not only our own business but also that of our clients, and
the wider community.
With the assistance of one of our sister companies who are
specialists in waste management, we have helped a number of our
customers to successfully reduce their dependence on traditional
waste disposal by implementing effective recycling schemes within
the workplace. We also continue to work closely with our suppliers
to ensure that our consumables are distributed in fully recyclable
packaging.
We have greatly reduced our use of chemical cleaning products by
rating their environmental impact using a ‘traffic light’ system.
Chemicals categorised as ‘red’ are now only used when strictly
necessary and we have sourced a range of ‘green’ or more
environmentally friendly alternatives, for more widespread use.
Our fleet of vehicles is becoming greener too. Over 90% of our
vehicles are low emission diesel models and we have made a firm
commitment that, going forward, all new vehicles purchased or leased
will be able to run on LPG to further improve our carbon footprint
and to help enhance London’s air quality. |

ideal for buildings with an internal area greater than one hundred
thousand square feet, CleanSmart™ uses the principles of process
engineering to deliver dramatic improvements in efficiency by the
most effective use of the resources deployed. The initial stage of
implementation involves precise planning, taking into account the
unique layout of your building and the individual requirements of
your organisation, in order to formulate a highly choreographed
cleaning system that delivers the most efficient solution possible.
Daytime cleaning is another simple, yet effective technique that we
employ. These uniformed staff move courteously and discreetly
throughout your organisation during office hours, cleaning and
preparing only the areas that actually need to be cleaned. Far from
cutting corners, this approach brings a number of service benefits,
as well as cost savings in organisations that otherwise might need
to allow afterhours access.
And it’s not only our working practices that defy convention;
technology plays an important role in our business too. PDAs and
virtually noise-free battery powered vacuum cleaners are as much the
tools of our trade as dusters, micro-fibre and traditional cleaning
cloths. PDAs enable us to operate a highly accurate quality system
by providing a quick and easy means of tracking performance. Data
can be relayed remotely from a number of locations and viewed via
our online portal to provide our customers with detailed and real
time management information, simply at the touch of a button |
