RD Castings Ltd
began its life over 30 years ago in Suffolk as manufactures of
Aluminium and Zinc pressure die castings and gravity die castings.
The company then expanded its capability to include full CNC
machining which has become a major part of its sales to date.
We are an independently family owned business with over 30 Years of

RD Castings have our own small Gravity
Die Casting facility for small batch work and prototypes. Gravity
Die Casting allows zinc and aluminium castings to be produced
cheaper and more accurately than sand casting, however Gravity Die
Casting is not suitable for mass production. We offer services for
light alloy castings both low and high volume for components up to
25kg in weight. Our in-house facilities are the best around, you can
count of RD Castings for all your Gravity Die Casting requirements. |

When it comes to High Pressure Die
Casting we are the UK's leading specialists with several Aluminium
and Zinc High Pressure Die Casting machines on site. Our machines
forces range between 160 tonnes - 400 tonnes and are fitted with
facilities to Vacuum cast (this improves the casting quality and
reduces porosity.) Our machinery is always the very best available
and RD Castings are continually investing in our High Pressure Die
Casting Machinery to keep us at the forefront of the industry. |

Aluminium Die

Our Aluminium Die casting foundry
caters for small and large batch sizes in a variety of metals
including LM6 LM24 ZA3 ZA12. Also for that larger quantity we have
the facilities to use Auto Ladle machines, and with the new addition
of our 350 tonne Agrati machine with a fully closed loop
proportional PLC controlled shot end, ensuring quality control of
every castings produced. All of our machines are fitted with
remote/integral facilities to Vacuum cast as well, further improving
the quality of the casting by dramatically reducing porosity. We
have a range of 160 tones through to 400 tones allowing for shot
weight of 10 grams up to 10kg. |

Zinc Die Casting |

Our Zinc die casting foundry includes
the very latest up to date machines including a Frech RC80 machine
enclosed in a fully automated cell. This cell includes the
weighing/cooling of castings and pressing/degatting of the
components. With these facilities RD Castings can offer very
competitive prices for small and large batch sizes. As with our
Aluminium foundry we also have the facilities to Vacuum die cast in
Zinc as well, ideal for Plated castings where porosity and surface
finish is paramount to there success. |

CNC Milling |

At RD Castings we pride ourselves on
our CNC machining facilities; these include 6 off High speed twin
pallet Brother Mills. These super fast milling machines are also
fitted with Nixen 4th Axis heads to cater for all machining
requirements. All machines our programmed offline with a DNC link to
minimize any downtime thus ensuring that our customers do not pay
for non productive time. All CNC featuring is designs and made in
our in house toolroom, ensuring the most competitive fixture costs
and component costs. These machines are also fitted with twin pallet
removing the need for RD Castings to charge for loading time of
components, as this is non existent as during this process the
milling carry on the apposing pallet. |
