PMFC Ltd (Polymeric Material Failure Consultants)
Seal and Hose Failure Investigation |
PMFC Ltd has extensive experience providing seal and hose investigations, and can provide a root cause diagnosis. Seal and hose investigation for the oil and gas industry is undertaken in our advanced facilities. |
Plastic and Rubber Failure Analysis |
Plastic and rubber materials engineering expertise combined with an understanding of complex engineering hardware equips PMFC to provide a rigorous root cause failure analysis service to a range of industry's where plastic and rubber materials are increasingly used towards the limits of their capability. |
Sprinkler System Plastic Pipe Failure |
Reliable determination of the causes of sprinkler system plastic pipe failure requires the consideration of material stressed state and also the extent of plastic pipe contact with materials, sealants or often apparently benign chemicals that may combine to provide the conditions that cause sprinkler system plastic pipe degradation. Pipe damage can progress slowly over time and often remains hidden due to sprinkler system pipework being concealed. |
Polymer Engineering Failure Investigation |
PMFC (Polymeric Material Failure Consultants Ltd) provides a confidential Engineering Failure Investigation Service, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Seal Leakage Evaluation, cPVC Pipework Leakage Analysis, Polymer Environmental Stress Cracking Evaluation to clients from a wide range of industry sectors that use polymeric materials for their critical component applications. |
Polymer Environmental Stress Cracking |
Environmental stress cracking is a common polymer failure mode caused by the combination of tensile material stress with an incompatible polymer/fluid combination. ESC is not caused by a chemical interaction and fluids can often appear to be benign (e.g. common detergents, food/plant oils, alcohols etc). Heat will generally increase the threat of ESC failure. Call PMFC if you are experiencing unexplained cracking in your polymer components. |
Oil & Gas |
In the Oil & Gas industry safety and reliability are paramount. PMFC carries out non-metallic material and component failure on surface and subsea hardware, examples of which include hoses, valves, pumps, separator vessels, accumulators, heat exchangers, BOP's, wireline tooling and platform cranes. Understanding loss of fluid pressure containment is the main area of expertise where PMFC is able to support this and other sectors. |
Supporting Expertise |
Phil Clarke, director of PMFC, has a 35 year career history in material and component testing that has incorporated environmental compatibility testing, fluid permeation, high pressure and high/low temperature functional testing, static and dynamic mechanical testing, seal qualification and design validation plus hydrogen sulphide exposure testing. |
Quality Management System |
Over ten years in a Quality Manager role with a leading provider of testing services provides Phil Clarke with the necessary understanding of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and the benefits that this system brings to an organisation. Certification provides the process control that is required when undertaking complex problem solving activities. |
PMFC Mission |
It is the mission of PMFC to provide a reliable and
efficient failure analysis service working alongside clients to
build an understanding of component failure events. |
