Fixed Wire Test and Inspection to BS 7671 |

(Also know as 5 year electrical testing.)
Electrical Testing Solutions Ltd provides inspection and testing of electrical
installations as an essential part of ensuring compliance with electrical
requirement of the Electricity at work regulations 1989, The Health & Safety at
Work Act 1974 and BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations).
Our continuous investment in the latest available technology enables us to
provide our clients with the most effective electrical testing service possible
and software that provides advanced management information.
The Electricity at Work Regulations state that all electrical systems and
equipment used in the working environment should be in a safe condition. The
health and safety executive requires that to comply with the regulations an
inspection and testing schedule must be implemented in all work places. The
frequency of this schedule will depend on the type of environment typically
either 3 years for industrial installations and 5 years for commercial
installations.
Periodic testing can be a major undertaking that is why at Electrical Testing
Solutions Ltd we provide our clients with flexible solutions that reduce
disruption to their operation.
Periodic inspection reports complete with schedule of test results are printed
onto NICEIC computer friendly report forms using Amtech Software and are
provided in a professionally bound folder. In addition reports can also be
provided in pdf and CD ROM formats if required at no additional charge. |

Portable Appliance (PAT testing) |
|
Portable
appliance testing is crucial to your company Health & Safety policies and
according to the Health & Safety Executive, a quarter of reportable electrical
accidents involve portable appliances.
The law clearly states that all employers have a legal obligation to maintain
all electrical equipment in order to ensure a safe working environment. This
includes all electrically operated items such as computers, printers,
photocopiers, kettles, extension leads, vacuums etc.
Organisations of all types and sizes have a duty to protect their employees and
business from this risk and to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations
1989, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Electrical Equipment (Safety)
Regulations 1994, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
Electrical Testing Solutions Ltd offers a comprehensive on-site PAT testing
service.
We carry out a through visual inspection of the appliance which includes
checking for damage to the flex, plug casing, incorrect wiring and incorrectly
rated fuse. Then a comprehensive test is completed using the appropriate fully
calibrated testing equipment.
Minor faults found during the course of the inspection will be repaired as we
find them and the appliance re-tested. All minor repairs are carried out free of
charge, including the following:
- Replacement of faulty or damaged mains plug (BS1363/A)
- Replacement of damaged or incorrectly rated fuses (BS1362)
- Re-wiring of incorrect connections in the mains plug BS1363/A)
- Repair to faulty cable grips in the mains plug BS1363/A)
- Minor repairs requiring less than ten minutes labour
- Re-test following repair
All Appliances are labelled with the result of the test (pass or fail).
PAT testing reports complete with certificate are provided in a professionally
bound folder. In addition reports can also be provided in pdf and CD ROM formats

Emergency Lighting Testing BS 5266 |
|
Emergency lighting is required in all premises where people are employed
and it is a mandatory requirement to be installed where artificial lighting is
installed.
Under the “Fire Precaution (Workplace) Regulations 1999” all Employers,
Landlords or Occupiers have a duty to carry out a risk assessment to ensure
their premises and activities are able to facilitate safe escape in the event of
an emergency.
The Emergency Lighting British Standard BS5266 defines the requirements for the
correct installation of Emergency Lighting. Compliance with this standard will
ensure that your premises, meets the requirements of the Fire Precaution
(Workplace) Regulations.
BS5266 requires inspection & tests should be carried out at the following
intervals (Frequencies);

Electrical Testing Solutions offers a periodic test and inspection of your emergency
lighting system as an essential part of compliance with ‘Fire Precaution
(workplace) Regulation 1999’. The test and inspection complies fully with BS5622
and will include test and inspection of all existing lighting and ensure that
emergency lighting is situated in all required areas.
(Electrical Testing Solutions Ltd is an independent electrical testing specialist,
we do not undertake electrical installation contracts to avoiding a conflict of
interest. Any additional Emergency Lighting that may be required following our
test and inspection would therefore need to be completed via an installation
contractor.)

Thermographic Surveys
|
|
A Thermographic Survey is generally used in addition to Period Fixed
wire Test and Inspection and is useful to identifying the possibility of fire
risk when it is not convenient shut down an electrical system.
At Electrical Testing Solutions Ltd we use the most up to date equipment and
software to complete our surveys.
Testing is completed by taking Thermographic photographs of distribution boards,
and or specified equipment required for testing, such as motors or control
panels. These photographs are then analysed using the latest computer software
which highlights any abnormalities in temperature.
Thermographic survey reports complete with photographic images are printed using
the latest software and are provided in a professionally bound folder. In
addition reports can also be provided in pdf and CD ROM formats if required at
no additional charge. |
