The Survey Autonomous Semi Submersible {or SASS} platform for Ocean survey was developed during the first round of the sea sense programme. The platform, which is intended to enhance or even replace conventional survey vessels, will provide cost effective deployment of ocean censors within a strictly controlled motion and noise environment . The SASS platform can be used in a range of areas, including fish stock assessment, ocean and coastal survey, oil and gas exploration, since technology was patented, the environmental monitoring and defence industries have shown considerable interest.
