Manual
Handling Training
Our enjoyable and cost effective courses include a theory and practical
training, covering areas such as; basic legislation, risk assessment, good
lifting techniques, hazards and consequences and the effects on the back . Our
certificated training ranges from Manual Handling information (1 hour) suitable
for offices through to the more popular 2 hour full training course suitable for
warehouses and more industrial companies. We also offer a Key “Train the
Trainer” course suitable for Supervisors and Managers looking to give some basic
training to other members of staff.
Display Screen Assessments
This entails a thorough and comprehensive assessment of your workstation(s).
Each desk is assessed for instances of bad posture, incorrect seat positioning,
bad ergonomic set up and general environment. The chairs and equipment that are
in use are also checked for suitability. If defective equipment is found,
alternatives will be suggested. Once assessed corrective actions are suggested
and put straight into action, this entails advice on adjusting chairs, monitors
etc as required.
A full and comprehensive assessment checklist is also prepared. It consists of
over 60 questions and pointers that gather information on the users current set
up and offers advice, guidance and better techniques going forward. This is very
useful for referrals, if you have new starters, employ temporary staff or have
employees who may be or have suffered from the effects of RSI or upper limb
disorders. Employees who spend more than a couple of hours working with display
equipment will find this very good at relieving eye strain, arm / lower back
pain and headaches.
The above can also be delivered as a Key “Train the Trainer” course enabling
Supervisors and Managers to carry out a DSE Workstation Assessment to HSE
standards.
Health
and Safety Audits, Policies and Procedures
Good Policies and procedures are vital for any company in today’s more litigious
society. A good Health and Safety audit of your business backed up with easy to
understand procedures and common sense policies are an important way of reducing
not only potential liabilities, but helping with increased production, lower
accident rates, reducing injuries to staff and visitors and help lower insurance
costs. Ehsystems will come to your premises and carry out a full Health and
Safety Audit of you premises and report back on the findings with corrective
actions and areas where improvements are required. If required a full set of
applicable policies and procedures can then be drawn up and incorporated into
your companies wider, Health and Safety manual.
Evacuation Chair Training
Evacuation
Chair Training for Operatives;
The course content consists of a short theory session covering key areas such as
risk assessment and legislation along with practical use of the chair. There is
plenty of time for the delegates to practise and gain confidence in its and
their ability. The course is run using your own equipment, however, EH Systems
does have chairs that can be used if required.
After completing the course the delegate will:
- Have a basic understanding
of fire regulations affecting mobility-impaired people
- Better understand issues
affecting those with a mobility impairment
- Understand manual handling
of the chair
- Have confidence in the chair
and their ability to operate it.
Evacuation Chair Training -
Train the Trainer
This entails training the delegate to understand and deliver the training listed
above. It is more intensive and uses videos and a training pack as well as more
practical use of the chair.
Upon completion, the delegates will be able to carry out their own training
sessions and safely instruct others.
Risk Assessment
The HASAW 1974 requires any organisation employing 5 or more people to carry out
and record risk assessments.
An assessment is essentially a careful examination of the hazards involved in
your work and identifying what could cause harm or injury to any
staff/contractor or member of the public.
This is achieved by looking at the task being carried out, assessing the risk
associated with it and the probability that it will occur if preventative
measures are not taken. This will produce an easy to use and understand score
which will enable you to decide which task needs attention immediately. All
assessments should be reviewed at least annually and when circumstances change
such as new equipment is being used or a change of premises.
EH Systems can carry these out for and produce an excellent set of assessments
which you can then use as a working document or procedure. Training can also be
provided to key members of staff who will be able to carry out their own
assessments.
This can also be delivered as a Key “Train the Trainer” course.
