| Software & Technology for the Railway Industry |
Software & Technology Company |
|
We specialise in high-value software
and technology for use in the rail industry. Once part of the
British Rail Research organisation, DeltaRail Group seeks to
encapsulate its extensive experience and know-how into practical
tools that can be used for planning, operating and maintaining the
modern railway. |

Our Integrated Electronic Control
Centres (IECCs) are used widely in the UK, with over 60% of trains
being directed by our systems at some point in their journey. The
familiar IECC layout assists the signaller to control traffic,
making it easy to see clearly what is happening on any section of
the railway. Our Automatic Route Setting (ARS) system automatically
manages deviations from the timetable and gives the signaller
essential assistance during times of disrupted operation. IECC can
be interfaced to either relay or Solid State Interlockings (SSIs). |

| Measurement of Rail Track Geometry |
Geometry Measurement |
|
The frequent and accurate measurement
of track geometry and rail head wear is an essential component of
modern track asset management. DeltaRail’s TracklineTwo system is a
compact pod-mounted laser and camera system that can operate from
the underside of attended geometry vehicles, or unattended service
vehicles. The compact size of the hardware means that it is ideal
for use in metro applications where space can be at a premium. |
|
| Remote Condition Monitoring of Train Components |
Remote Condition Monitoring |
|
Modern rolling stock maintenance
management requires an understanding of the condition and
degradation characteristics of brake pads, overhead conductor shoes
and wheels. DeltaRail’s VIEW system uses camera and laser
technology, situated beneath the track, to monitor the condition of
these components. The system is located inside the depot, or at a
suitable location at the depot entrance (such as the wash plant). |

| Dynamic Vehicle and Track Simulation |
The VAMPIRE Vehicle |
|
The way that vehicles behave
dynamically on the track can have a profound impact on ride
stability, comfort, and safety. VAMPIRE is a dynamic simulator that
has been developed over many years, specifically for the rail
industry. VAMPIRE meets the needs of vehicle designers, service
operators and academic institutions. The software has been used to
study a very wide range of problems including vehicle derailment
propensity, the need for speed restrictions, behaviour at switches
and crossings and the effects of different vehicle components (for
example dampers) on ride characteristics. |
