Convert harnesses new capabilities at Southern Manufacturing Show

Convert Ltd, the UKÂ’s leading manufacturer of cable looms and harnesses, is showcasing its capabilities at this yearÂ’s Southern Manufacturing Show, and highlighting a recent doubling in output.

The Kent-based electrical engineering company has doubled its capacity with a new Komax fully automatic crimping machine. The machine is already delivering for two of the worldÂ’s leading sports car manufacturers.

So impressed is the company with the Komax Gamma 255’s small wire handling, it intends to buy another one – or even two more machines - in the not too distant future to supplement its Artos MTX-5 crimping machine which is currently used to process thicker wires.

Convert specialises in the automotive, public transport and scientific/medical sectors, manufacturing cable harnesses for car head and rear lights, passenger gates at railway stations and a range of scientific equipment.

Convert boasts top industry names amongst its customers such as Wipac, Bibby Scientific Ltd, GKN Hybrid Power, Cubic Transportation and OEM Automatic Ltd, as well as leading luxury and sports car manufacturers.

Dave Lord, Convert’s Managing Director, said: “We always look forward to exhibiting at the Southern Manufacturing Show. This will be our tenth year, and for us, it’s one of the UK’s most successful engineering and electronic shows. It’s well organised and has always produced the goods in terms of great leads and networking opportunities so we’re hoping our new Komax machine will help generate more of the same this year!”

Convert has been in business for 11 years, initially employing nine people when it was set up in 2006. It has grown significantly and now employs 30 members of staff and turns over £1.5 million.
