Health and Safety Compliance

Unisto Ltd News and PR from Unisto Ltd - Published 12 November 2013 Unisto seals ensure health and safety compliance with the non fade Medio security seal.
Worn harnesses or badly maintained lifting equipment can have serious consequences for companies, with the risk of personal injury to operators or those around them. Working in conjunction with a major manufacturing company in the healthcare sector, Unisto has further developed their existing Medio seal as a high visibility non-fade inspection tag that ensures factory load handling equipment is always ready for use. Providing an instant integrity check, the new Medio is also a guarantee that essential safety checks or auditing processes have been carried out.

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment regulations of 1998 (LOLER) lay down comprehensive guidelines, which include the need for inspection of new equipment and periodic examination throughout its lifetime. The responsibility in law rests on users of the lifting equipment, which broadly includes load-handling machinery such as cranes and forklift trucks and non-mechanical accessories such as harnesses. Under the requirements of LOLER, such inspections must be carried out by a competent person and recorded. In many cases, companies may also operate their own internal safety programme in tandem.

Health and Safety Compliance Security Seals

Manufactured in durable polyamide with a breaking strength of up to 120N, the Medio Seal has been designed to overcome the traditional problem of tag breakages caused by brittleness resulting from exposure to cold conditions and prolonged periods in storage. Inspection dates are permanently laser-etched into the seal with no risk of rubbing or fading during handling or exposure to light. Colour coding is available as an additional option providing visible proof of currency to support documented audit trails.
