Products

Flow Control Actuators

Flow control actuators operate valves that manage the flow of fluids in pipelines and processes. Rotork products range from simple hand operated gearboxes to sophisticated non-intrusive smart actuators, operated electrically, pneumatically or hydraulically and able to record and communicate their activities to computerised plant control systems. Our actuator applications encompass valves of virtually every size and description for most industries. Designed for long-term reliable and maintenance-free operation in remote, harsh and hazardous environments, our products are relied upon in every climate and location, including subsea. In addition to controlling the routine movement of fluids, specialised actuators are used for vital ESD (Emergency Shut Down) duties, moving valves to safe positions, even when mains power is not available, to prevent potential accidents and spillages.

Automated Flow Control

Rotork's actuators are designed to operate with computerised SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems to provide automated flow control in modern industrial processing and manufacturing environments. A typical example is the sequence of valve actions for the automatic operation and backwashing of filter systems in water and sewage treatment plants. We have led the way with integration of plant control by the use of digital network connectivity which makes the commissioning of the plant and subsequent monitoring and control a simple and reliable task. Using the network highway, valve movements are actioned and the actuator reports status feedback to the plant control system. Rotork’s Pakscan system also facilitates wireless communication and enables information stored on actuator data loggers to be downloaded and diagnosed for predictive maintenance.

Intelligent Actuators

We provide a range of Intelligent Actuators that are designed for continuous modulating linear or rotary valve operation to control flow rate and pressure in the process industries. Traditional pneumatic designs are now complemented by Rotork CVA electric actuators that use advanced motion control technologies to provide exceptionally accurate positioning and dynamic performance. Integral super-capacitors provide failsafe capabilities whilst actuator calibration, configuration and interrogation are performed non-intrusively using Rotork’s wireless communication technologies. Specialised Rotork heavy duty electric control valve actuators are also available for air and gas flow control in boilers and heaters. Environmental improvement policies have witnessed the increased use of these in power stations to improve combustion efficiency, to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and in flue gas desulphurisation plants.
