Operable Walls and Partitions for Somerset College

Building Additions Ltd News and PR from Building Additions Ltd - Published 10 April 2013 Building Additions was recently approached by BAM Construction to help them with the installation of an operable wall system within Robert Blake Science College in Bridgwater, Somerset.
Their brief to us was to design and supply a series of moving wall partitions that would allow the college to make maximum use of their available space whilst also giving complete flexibility.

BAM knew that we are specialists in designing and providing partition systems, folding and operable walls for schools and other educational facilities, and that our systems are specifically designed to be tough, reliable, easy to use and fully compliant with the collegeÂ’s health and safety obligations.

Equally important in this instance was the requirement that the movable wall panels should be able to take bespoke decorative images that would inherently be both attractive and could also be used as a teaching aid.

In total we designed and supplied a total of 16 moving walls to the college, used in areas across the premises complete with a wide range of printed images, including one of the complete Periodic Table. The walls included one 5m high, supplied to the Drama Stage to enable them to close it off safely for assemblies.

Building Additions movable walls have enabled a number of schools and colleges to make the most of the space they have, often acting as an alternative to additional buildings.

Using these systems as classroom dividers offers the school or college a flexible solution to maximise the use of space within the building whilst also meeting their exact requirements in terms of acoustic performance or choice of finishes.
