TAF - The Trade Association Forum

The Trade Association Forum is an umbrella organisation for industry trade bodies – a trade association for trade associations of sorts. Its remit is to improve the performance of the UK’s trade associations, membership bodies and professional organisations and to promote best practice in all areas of their activity.

The Forum promotes the role of trade associations in creating a positive business environment and forming public policy, and we support our members with products and services which provide valuable assistance in their daily activities. The Trade Association Forum is one of the largest bodies of its kind and represents organisations from all kinds of industries, some 300 members and provides membership services, training and education, information and advice and commercial services. As the country moves steadily out of recession, membership of the Forum is now more valuable than ever before with access to these products and services, which are designed to help you in the day-to-day running of your organisation. Our membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March each year and subscriptions are calculated pro-rata depending upon the number of full time staff employed by the organisation. For further information regarding membership, please email: linda.cavender@cbi.org.uk.

Forum Membership – Promoting Excellence!

It is increasingly important to become part of the collective voice of trade associations. Membership of the Forum enables you to be part of a united community promoting trade associations and gain direct engagement with Government, together with many excellent opportunities to network with your peers and share best practice. Whilst the sectoral issues affecting representational bodies are often unique, many of the operational issues they encounter affect all of them to some degree. The Forum is very much in the business promoting best practice and works hard to help with these operational issues in a number of ways:

Conferences and Events

The TAF events programme provides members with invaluable opportunities for networking and sharing of knowledge. Our events calendar includes:

  • Annual Conference
  • TA Best Practice Exchange
  • Exclusive CEO Luncheons with Government Ministers
  • Prestigious Annual Awards Scheme
  • Breakfast Briefings
  • Training and Seminars

Research and Publications

The Forum publishes a wide range of reports and studies as well as a regular newsletter updating you on news affecting trade association activities.

  • Comprehensive Benchmarking Studies
  • Joint Salary and Benefits Survey with CBI
  • Voices of British Business Report
  • Value Added Measurement Methodology developed by TAF
  • Directory of UK Trade Associations
  • ‘Benefits of Trade Associations’ Stakeholder leaflet
  • Sustainable Consumption and Production Guide
  • Regular surveys on topics of interest

Other Services

As well as our core activities, membership of TAF gives you an opportunity to take advantage of the following:

  • Valuable networking opportunities
