I have found the Poly Casp FAM-VAD-FMK kit (Cell Technology) from Stratch very useful as an assay for Caspase activity in the analysis of apoptosis. The product is quick and easy to use and readily detectable using fluorescence channels set up for FITC detection.
We are currently growing them up and experimenting with passaging protocols. The astrocytes seem to be very healthy and we were very pleased with your kit. Admittedly, when we purchased the astrocyte kit we were skeptical that we would get anything out of them, but you proved us wrong
The functionalized coverslips from Microsurfaces are of an extremely high quality. For single molecule work, we find an essentially zero background on a TIRF microscope, as well as a high efficiency for binding protein. There is an excellent choice of functionalization, giving real flexibility in designing experiments
Hi Pete, I just started culturing the midbrain cells yesterday after stored at 4oC for one week. They look good. I believe these cells will do well and be useful for our assay. The hippocamppal cultures generated from the replacement order have been successfully used for our assays.
