Crawford Precision Engineering (CPE)
are manufacturers of the SPIRO and ROTOLIN range of Special Purpose Linear
Bearings, Custom Self Aligning Bearings, Rotary Linear Bearings, Ball Units and
Ball Bushings in Special and Standard Configurations. When it comes to bearings,
we have many years manufacturing experience, supplying customers not only in the
UK, but also Europe and the USA.
CPE products are widely used in many special purpose machine applications and in
the paper processing industry (Doctor Back Bearings). Our product portfolio has
recently received a new product, the EXACTA range of precision die set
components.
Subcontract Machining
Our machine shop is well equipped with a range of conventional and CNC machine
tools. Assembly facilities and inspection clean areas are available. Our team
are more than happy to discuss larger batches of precision components and
assemblies or "one-offs".
Products
Our product range includes products from SPIRO, ROTOLIN and EXACTA, we also
offer a range of Butter Matic Buttering Machines. CPE offer a wide range of
standard configurations and sizes; however, our team are happy to discuss your
requirements for custom, non-standard applications and dimensions.
| Custom Design of Special Products |
Our dedicated technical department is made up from highly skilled and
experienced personnel that specialise in the design of special bearings to suit
a wide range of applications. Special bearings are manufactured in sizes io to
300mm (12 inches) outside diameter in large quantities, single units or matched
sets.
We use our own custom designed software system (BEARUSE) to calculate design
parameters for special bearings required to perform in specific speed/load
combinations.

can not only produce bearings for special applications, we can also reproduce
difficult to obtain or obsolete bearings.

Our range of SPIRO bearings includes special purpose linear bearings, custom
self-aligning bearings, rotary and combined rotary & linear configurations.
Spiro Max-Load
Designed to sustain high loads at speeds higher than multiple or single
conventional track bearings. Available from 6mm inner diameter to over 300mm
outer diameter.
Spiro Rotary Only & Rotary Linear
Available as both rotary linear and rotary only bearings, these bearings are
designed to run directly upon a suitably prepared journal or shaft.
Spiro SA
This self-aligning bearing offers a robust design with high load-bearing
capabilities. standard sizes from 7.000″ O.D. to 1.500″ I.D.
Spiro SAR
These special purpose linear bearings are capable of rotary and linear motion,
they are self-aligning and available from 8.000″ O.D. to 1.500″ I.D.
Spiro SARH
Spiro SARH is a self-aligning, rotary linear bearing with housing, ideal or
applications where misalignment or considerable angular movement is expected.
Spiro SSAR
A sealed self-aligning rotary-linear bearing that allows an exceptionally wide
combination of axial and rotary movement. These special purpose linear bearings
are made to specification.

| ROTOLIN |
CPE manufacture an extensive range of ROTOLIN bearings, these custom self-aligning
bearings are designed or universal applications with linear and rotary motion,
simultaneously or separately. To eliminate shake or deflection and ensure
accuracy, the rolling balls are preloaded.
We custom design special bearings to suit individual customers specific needs,
from Paper Making to Nuclear Power, Aircraft to Machine Tools. ROTOLIN custom
self-aligning bearings can include eccentric motion and aligning facilities as
necessary.

We have recently added a full range of die set components to our product
portfolio, these include ball bushes, bushes and pillars (demountable and
press-fit).
EXACTA Ball Bushings
Available as Metric Flanged Ball Bushes Type MMD or Inch Flanged Ball Bushes
Type MD, both variations are preloaded or high precision applications and
incorporate a captive ball cage.
EXACTA Press-Fit Pillars and Bushes
Precision ground and hardened dual diameters for ease of assembly.
EXACTA Removable Guide Pillars
Manufactured from hardened steel and available with pillar diameters from 18mm
to 80mm, removable guid pillars can be produced with lengths up to 400mm.

The CPE buttermatic buttering machine is designed with both large and small
sandwich manufacturers in mind. Suitable or buttering rolls, sliced bread and
buns, these compact, high volume butter spreaders provide full control over
butter thickness and bread thickness.
