Low Carbon Freecutting Steels
These steels are widely used for machining parts for the automotive and general engineering sectors and include 220M07, 230M07, (EN1A) and certain leaded versions. Semi-freecutting steels used for case-hardening include 210M15 and 214M15, (EN32M and EN202).
Low Carbon Steels
Otherwise known as mild steels these materials are suitable for bending, forming, welding and case hardening the most popular of which are 040A10, 070M20, 080A15, 080M15, (EN2A, EN3B, EN32B).
Medium Carbon & Carbon Manganese Steels
These materials provide a greater strength than mild steels and respond well to heat treatment such as flame or induction hardening. Main types in this category include 080M30, 080M40, 080A42, 070M55, 150M19. The free cutting carbon steels includes 212M36, 212M44, 212A42, 226M44.
Alloy Case - Hardening Steels
Case hardening steels are normally specified where a hard wear resisting surface and tough supporting core is required and include types 665M17, 655M13 and 635M 15, (EN33, EN34, EN36, and EN351).
Alloy Direct Hardening Steels
Alloy Direct Hardening Steels are available in a wide range of combinations of alloying elements such as chromium, vanadium, nickel and molybdenum. These are supplied in softened condition to enable hardening and tempering after machining. These types include 605M36, 708M40, 817M40.
